Juice bar shakes up business with its service – POTTERS BAR TODAY
Tuesday, 14 April 2009
THE recession has not been felt so far in a new milkshake and juice bar in Mill Hill – except in its ‘credit crunchie’ special.
Since opening in February, Shaketastic has become the talk of the town and a bustling meeting place, according to owner Josh Kettle.
The shop, in Hale Lane, sells ice cream and milk-based shakes, including a Chocoholic, containing fudge brownies, a choice of chocolate bars and Coco Pops; the Cookie Monster, a mix of Oreos, chocolate-chip cookies and marshmallows; and American Pie, a blend of Mr Kipling apple pie, rhubarb and custard sweets, sprinkled with honey nut cornflakes.
Shaketastic also caters for those looking for a healthier treat with a long list of freshly prepared juices, including passion fruit, blueberry, coconut, lychee and guava.
Mr Kettle, a father-of-two, said: “The shop has had a massive impact on the area, everyone’s talking about it.
“We use fresh fruit and proper ice cream in generous portions. It’s like a big theatre where customers can watch all the ingredients going in to their drink.
“It’s a cool place, we play good music and we’re open until 2.30am on Friday and Saturday nights. Since the week we opened, we’ve had people queuing to get in, from schoolchildren to teenagers and their parents, and even famous footballers have parked outside in their Lamborghinis!”
Customers looking for a boost can also opt to add multi-vitamins, vitamin C or a hangover cure. With a mix-and-match approach to blending drinks and a free delivery service for orders over £15, Shaketastic has already shifted around 25,000 shakes since opening two months ago, “The most important thing for us is that people are satisfied and that we build up a good reputation,” said Mr Kettle. “I don’t mind whether we sell 25 shakes or 25,000, if they’re good and the customer is happy – that’s what important.” Visit www.shaketasticbars.com
